Adoption Application

Please read all information

 carefully!

The mission of The Break Heart Ranch Horse Rescue, is to ensure that our horses go to good and loving homes.  Since most of our horses come from situations that included forms of abuse and neglect,  we will not adopt out a horse that may end up in the same situation.  To that end, we have asked for information that will not only help you to find your perfect companion, but, protect our horses as well.    We, at Break Heart, will not allow one of our precious friends to be hurt again.  Sadly, we have been taken advantage of, and are forced to change our policies.

New Policies for Adoption:  We have a new application form, asking for more information!  Please make sure all requested information is filled out!  If there are blanks on the application it may be returned.  We have asked for more information in an effort to find the perfect horse for your situation.  All references will be followed up , and all Vet references will be called, as well as a phone interview with all who apply.  Every effort will be made to ensure that the information provided  us is correct.

We will  be doing home checks.   We aren’t looking for dirty dishes or clothes!  What we are looking for is the safety of the horses environment.  This includes any boarding facilities you are planning on using.   We are not there to judge!  If need be, we will recommend  areas that may need improvement!  We’re looking at fencing, tack,  pasture area, other hoof stock at the location, barns and  outbuildings.  We are there to help!    So if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.  If we don’t know, we’ll find out!   This home check works for all of our benefits, especially your new companion. We want you to have a wonderful experience.

We are looking for safe, caring homes, where our horses will be treated as the loving friends and companions they are. We would like to help you find the appropriate horse for whatever reason you are looking, such as a 4-H project, special needs child, riding discipline, skill level and so on.   We haven’t left you out, as the new horse parent! There will be a list of phone numbers provided with every adoption.   This list will be a comprehensive list of contacts that will be able to help you out with any problem you might have.  Even if it’s to pass on a funny story, or to vent in frustration!  We will be doing follow up visits, to all new adoptions, to make sure that the fit is perfect between horse and family.   Yet another chance for you to ask us more questions!  We are willing to provide you references as well. They will be happy to answer any questions you have about us.

These beautiful, intelligent beings deserve better treatment then what they had in the past, and Break Heart Ranch reserves the right to refuse any adoption application if all guidelines aren’t met.

It is heartbreaking to realize that a few people, that were trusted to uphold their promise to care for our special animals, have caused them pain and anguish. I cannot bear another animal being treated cruelly, because I made a mistake in judgment. These animals bond with their companions and it is hard on them to be shuffled about. They want and need a stable, loving environment and this is our goal, while providing you with the very special experience of knowing and loving these truly magnificent animals.

Full payment for all adoptions is required.  Without payment, our adoptees will remain available for other families.

To make sure we always have space for our rescues, we are unable to board horses unless prior arrangements have been made.
