For Adoption

Break Heart Ranch
doesn't sell horses. We rescue animals in need - rescue,
rehabilitate and provide retirement for special needs animals. Our
adoption fees help provide medical care, feed and all those things
horses require for their proper care. Proceeds from these adoptions make
it possible to rescue additional equines.
|
Any adoptions going out of state will
require a Coggins before they can be picked up. This must be prepaid
before the animal is picked up, so the vet will have time for the test and
the test results. A copy of the Cogging and health papers must be in your
possession while transporting a horse across state lines.

Bold Hand
Bold Hand is a stallion from the original Nebraska Seven, that was
saved from slaughter. I thought he had found his "forever" home, but
was mistaken. Bold Hand was thrown away, pure and simple. He is a
sweet stallion with impeccable papers. I thought his person cared
about him, but that was not to be. Bold Hand is seeking a "forever"
home that will appreciate his affectionate nature. Bold Hand prefers
women, probably due to the fact, the abuse was from a man. He is a
registered APHA paint, with some tremendous blood lines. By the
way Bold Hand supports a very nice handlebar mustache!!

PREACHER
MAN
This sweet stallion has a weak spot-children.
Preacher loves children and will do anything for their attention.
He has put on more weight, but will never be a fat boy. We
are looking for a special home for Preacher, someone who understands
stallions and appreciates Preacher for his willingness, great
disposition, mild manners, and his eagerness to please, even if a
little girl has a choke hold on him, while smothering him with
kisses.

Preacher comes from a well bred family, Raffles
among them. Preacher is a little over 14 hands and can be
handled by adults and children. Yes, he is a stallion, and he
knows it, however, he understands that he can look, but not touch.
He gets along well with other horses and is not pushy.

Tank

Registered name: Quincy Jo Baret has a
distinguished pedigree. His papers show: Two Eyed Jack, Quincy Dan,
Watch Joe Jack, Tiger Leo, just to name a few.
We call him "Tank", as you can see by the
picture, he is a big boy and he still has weight and muscle to go.
He is standing next to our Dodge one ton dually, and the saddle is
NOT a kids saddle.
He was born in 1999, and is registered through
the AQHA. He was used mainly for showing, but passed first level
Parelli. He has always worked off the Parelli halter and never had
a bit in his mouth.
He has been saddled, but not ridden very often.
He is willing to learn, and expects you to give him the
information he needs. A little refresher course, and/or reining, by
someone light of hand, could turn this boy into a contender.
He has the potential and the size for ranch or
Rodeo and is very quick on his feet. He loves attention and
affection and is willing to learn.
If you are interested in a a great registered
gelding with unlimited potential, here is your chance. He will be
listed on several of the Equine sites, as well. The chance to
own a super horse, teamed with the right companion would be a great
pair.
Don't let his lack of finishing fool you.
The picture of Tank is in his wooly winter coat,
he sheds out a nice golden sorrel.

Bear Paw
Bear Paw is a gorgeous boy that needs a job. He loves
people, and attention. However, he is happiest when he has a job.
Bear Paw wants to be ridden and with cow in his veins, could very
well make a wonderful cattle or ranch horse.
Beware! Bear Paw is a jokester that loves to be the clown!

BLUE
DUSTY
One of the Nebraska 7,
AQHA#4042028 ( Poco Bueno, Red Dog, Three Bars and more) one of the
Nebraska Seven Rescue, Blue is 7 years old. She is a registered
AQHA mare out of good stock. She has not been handled very much,
but would come around with some attention and a little dedication.
She is a beautiful
Smokey Buckskin with a fine build. An excellent chance to own a
fine mare at a very reasonable price, due to her need for training.
$600.00

Tequila
One of the Nebraska 7 rescue, we
were told he was a 3 year old stud, however, it is obvious someone
forgot about a castration. Tequila learns quickly, even though he had
not been handled. He is beginning to enjoy human company and will make
a nice gelding. He is a soft creamy color, from his coloring I would
call him a Palamino paint. The markings are just very faint. He has
warm brown eyes, that soften with praise and attention.
He has been
haltered and has worn a blanket. He will be up for adoption, when he
has gained some much needed weight. He is will to trust if you are the
right person for his forever home.

Sultan

Sultan is a 14 year old Polish Arabian gelding.
He is flashy and loves to have a job. He loves people and
attention, but does not play well with other geldings. Sultan has
the ability and mind to learn anything you have in mind, as long as
you work with him on a daily basis. He loves to be working. He has
the ability for show, barrels, jumping, western and pleasure. He
needs an experienced rider, and he wants to know exactly what his
companion wants. He is not papered, but comes from the AS Nile
King line.
If you want a goer, that can do it all, and be a
companion, this is the horse for you.

Tyee or Ty (in
Chinook Indian means Chief)

Look at me now!!!
Ty is a little part Arab stud colt that was weaned
far too soon. He was so bony his legs touched. He had
never been handled by humans and was frightened so badly, I feared he
would just fall over. After much coaxing I was able to lead him
to our trailer, It only took one look, by this poor, starving
little boy, to see other horses waiting for him and the sweet smell of
hay. He jumped right in. We are still working to get Ty's
muscle tone back to where it would be and, of course, put more weight
on him. He is a pretty little bay with a heart on his
forehead.
His best buddy is Talisa, who bosses him around, which he doesn't
seem to mind.
Update on Ty: Ty has amazed us
all. He was such an underweight, homely little duckling that has
grown into a beautiful swan. You would never imagine that poor
little slaughter baby to become such a beautiful yearling. We
are still trying to figure out what color he will shed out. Ty
may have some arabian in him, which would account for the mixture of
color. He if affectionate and love hugs. He is well
mannered and gets along well with the farrier and other horses.
Update
Ty is turning into a beautiful
boy. Soon he will be making a trip to the vet to be gelded.
It is not sure what color he will shed out to be, he has quite a bit
of gray underneath his winter coat. He does have some coloring
of a Rabicano. His gentle disposition and willingness to please
makes him a favorite with visitors. He will be going on two in
the next few months and is well versed in halter and farrier. He
will start some training, but will not have any riding until he is
three. He would make a wonderful 4-H horse.
Ty's fee includes the gelding fee. He will
be gelded before pickup.
$600.00

Faith caught smooching Ty through the barn door.

Joy

Joy was bought
at auction. Joy is a Hinny. Her Mama was a Donkey and
her Daddy was a horse. With her little nose and big ears, she
almost looks part Kangaroo! Joy is learning that humans have
good things to eat. As you can see, our dog,
Shy, doesn't know what to make of her!
Update: Joy is working hard regain her former
figure, as she had been overfed. She holds her feet nicely for
trimming, but is still a little shy of people.

Cheyenne
Cheyenne is a 13 year old golden Dun mare.
We rescued Cheyenne from auction, when she was pregnant. Her
daughter, Diamond, has since found a wonderful home in Omaha.
Cheyenne was ridden bare back at the auction without reins or rope.
This is the first time Cheyenne has been offered
up for adoption. Cheyenne is very intelligent and requires a VERY
experienced rider. Cheyenne is a "thinking mare" who will need
a firm hand and daily riding. She has not been ridden for at
least two years.
It will require a very special person to capture
her heart, but the reward will be well worth the work. She
tends to be on the dominant side, so I would not suggest her for a
"pasture pal." However, Cheyenne would do well with one on one
attention and her weak spot is her love of juicy carrots.
Anyone with an "attitude" please don't apply. Cheyenne
responds to "Natural Horsemanship" techniques.

Liz
A
beautiful, flashy 4 year old Liz sticks out in a crowd. She is
loving and sweet and loves attention. I have not had a chance to
evaluate if Liz has been a saddle horse or just a pasture horse.
We will be working on that in the future. No matter, with her
looks and intelligence, she will learn quickly and soon find a loving
forever home.

Ebony
Here is Ebony after a good roll in the mud.

A black pure bred Arabian mare.
She has begun to put on weight and slick out and is looking much better
now. She is shy and we are working with those issues right now. She is
about 10 years old. We are working on her trust in humans.

FAITH
Faith was bought at a
slaughter auction. Her owner said it knew she had problems, but
hadn't taken care of it. I would not let this beautiful little girl
go to the kill buyers. She came home to Break Heart. We
took her, along with Hope, to Grand Island to see what we could do to help
these poor babies. Faith has a slim chance of recovery, although she
will never be able to be much more than a pasture pal. She had
special farrier work and a new shoe that will help her walk better.
The real tragedy is that if her owner would have taken her in just a few
months before, corrective surgery could have saved the knee and all the
pain she was in.

Now time for surgery
may have been lost. Faith is still looking for a miracle. We
have 30 days to
see how well
Faith responds to her new shoe. Her knee will never be normal again.
She is a loving filly, that is intelligent and learns quickly. She
has lost any chance at a bright future, but we are striving to give her
quality of life without pain. If the time comes we cannot do that,
then we will
have to give her the same gift we gave Hope, the right to peace. Is
there a Miracle for this little girl? Only time will tell us.
She is young and that is on her side.

Pleasant Autumn aka "Buddy"

Buddy is a sweetheart of a boy. He suffered a track
accident that destroyed his racing career. The specialist says Buddy
will recover fully, in about a year, with complete rest. No riding.
However, he is well worth the wait. Buddy has a gentle heart and he is
willing to learn, if you just take the time and a little patience. Buddy
will be 6 years old Jan. 1st. He is intelligent and learns quickly.
Buddy is a large bay, with striking black markings and a kind eye.
Update on "Buddy" Pleasant Autumn
Buddy is coming along nicely from
his race injury and in a few months will take on his new life as a trail
horse. This big boy loves people and being spoiled.
